1 in 5 confident Biden can unite the country: Poll

Only one in five Americans has a “significant amount of confidence” in President Biden’s ability to achieve his goal of uniting the country, according to a new poll published on Sunday.
While 22 percent said Biden would unify the country, 24 percent remained extremely skeptical, saying they had “no confidence” “at all” that he would be able to do so. ABC News / Ipsos Poll Found.
35% said they had a “good amount” of confidence Biden could unite the country, and 19% said they “don’t have much” confidence.
Poll respondents were asked for their opinion after watching a video of Biden’s inaugural speech urging Americans to see “each other not as enemies, but as neighbors.”

At the same time, 71 percent of those who watched Biden’s inauguration speech in whole or in portions of it said his message was “very” or “somewhat” convincing.
29% of viewers found it “unconvincing” or “not at all convincing.”
The poll included a random sample of 504 adults across the country from January 22 to 23.
It has a margin of error of plus / minus 5.0 percentage points.
